Comments & Submissions
When visitors leave comments, submit films, or register for events, we collect the data provided in the form along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help prevent spam and misuse.
An anonymized string (hash) created from your email address may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar privacy policy is available at: https://afro.bulk2cart.com. After approval, your profile image may appear alongside your comment or submission.
Media Uploads
If you upload images, trailers, or film posters to the website, please ensure they do not contain embedded location data (EXIF GPS). Visitors may be able to download and extract such information if included.
Cookies
If you register, submit a film, or leave a comment on our site, you may opt to save your name, email, and website in cookies for convenience. These cookies last for one year.
- A temporary cookie is set when visiting the login page to check if your browser accepts cookies. This contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
- Login cookies last for two days, and display preference cookies last for one year. Selecting “Remember Me” will keep you logged in for two weeks.
- Editing or publishing content will store an additional cookie indicating the post ID of your edit, which expires after one day.
Embedded Content

Data Sharing
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email. For event and film submissions, certain information may be shared with festival organizers, jury members, or partners strictly for festival operations.
Data Retention
- Comments, film submissions, and registration details are stored indefinitely to ensure accurate festival records.
- For registered users, we store the personal information provided in their user profile. Users can view, edit, or delete their information at any time (username cannot be changed). Festival administrators can also view and edit this data.
Your Rights
If you have registered, submitted a film, or left comments, you may request an exported file of your personal data we hold. You may also request erasure of your personal data, excluding data required for legal, security, or administrative reasons.
Where Your Data Is Sent
All comments, registrations, and film submissions may be screened through automated spam detection services. Sensitive submission data is used strictly for festival purposes and is not sold to third parties.
